Anamatic

I came up with the idea to film some footage with the words on cardboard and have four way split screens showing the members of the groups playing around with them. I made the five boards that said 'Girls' 'Just' 'Wanna' 'have' 'fun'. I did them in bubble writing and painted them red. I was going to paint the background of the cardboard pink and write on it with white writing however the art block was only able to supply me with red paint as they were out of white, so I left the cardboard brown and painted the words in red. This was successful as the colourswent really well with the bright lighting that was in out shots

Whilst filming the footage, we got given an idea to take pictures of ourselves holding the boards striking different poses instead offilming it. We took up this idea and decided to also take pictures of ourselves dancing so that we can create an anamatic with it. We used the anamaticto split up the pole shots and used the pictures of us holding the boards to replace some of the repetitive footage.

Audience feedback

After showing our video in class for the first time and posting it on youtube, we got both positive and negative comments.

The positive feedback we got was that overall shots in the video were good especially the toilet shot and the pole shot, however the negative feedback was that the video was quite repetitive as the hula hooping shots and quad shots are used quite frequently and the pole shot goes on for too long. Also the car shots are too dark compared to the rest of the video. But overall the video has a good concept and is humorous.

We have taken this feedback into consideration and planned to film some more footage to replace the second hula hooping bit and some of the quad shots. I will have to split the pole shots up and add other footage in the middle. I have slightly lightened the car shots on Final Cut Pro but are however still quite dark.

Footage

After deciding the concept of the video and deciding on including split screens to illustrate the narrative for thevideo, we both took home a camera and filmed ourselves getting ready for a night out, getting in trouble with our parents, and leaving for and coming home from a night out.

I used Final Cut Pro to edit our video. However, I found it to be difficult to split screen all our footage as some of the frames of the footage we shot were to big to be split, therefore some shots of the artists on their own performing the narrative, ensuring that both members of the group had equal screen time.

Split screens

Our video will consist of a lot of split screens to show the two separate fun and exciting lives of the artists. There will be split screens of the artists doing the same thing in the narrative to show the normality of teenagers going out to parties and coming home late, and so that other teenagers can relate to it. The beginning of the video will all be split screen showing the two girls doing the same thing but on their own.

Split screens are used through out the video to put across the message of individuality. Although there are two members in the group, the split screens allows viewers to recognize them as individuals putting across the same message and not that they need each other to form an image.

Concept

We came up with the concept of the artists following through a narrative of going out and coming home late, which matches the lyrics to the song. We will then go on to show the artists at school still having as much fun in school as they do outside, accentuating our message of 'Girls just want to have fun'. The video will consist of the artists having fun and doing typical things that teenage girls do.

Today we filmed the scenes that are set in my room. We done our getting ready scenes, close ups of us before we were ready, after we were ready and as guys. Some shots will have to be re shot because of lighting and unwanted items in shots, such as the shot of all three of us in the mirror as the tripod can be seen in the background.

We came up with another idea for our dance scene today. We decided we was going to do the dance in different positions wearing different outfits and then merge the shots together making it look like an army of clones of us doing the Beyonce dance. This will be shot in the school dance studio on Tuesday.

We are still waiting for a reply from the woman in charger of the bar we want to film in for a day that it is available. I will Email her again today to remind her to let us know when the bar is available.
